On a recent visit to Chicago I took the famous architecture tour and was just stunned by the views. This is the from the point in the Chicago River where it separates into north and south branches looking back east in the direction of Lake Michigan. In view another tour boat heads towards us, an L train passes over the river, skyscrapers tower above.

This painting is inspired by a drawing made while wandering around Provincetown, MA several years ago.

One of the ways I find new ideas for paintings is to ride my bike along one of several rail trails that run through forests and fields in this part of New England. Description: The sun bears down brightly on the fields of eastern France. The wind blows through flowers, fields of grain and energy producing windmills. This painting is part of my "Renewable" Series - addressing the relationship of energy and the landscape. It was inspired by scenes I sketched in eastern France during an artist residency in the summer of 2014. As with most of my work, this is painted on unstretched flat, unprimed canvas.

Glen Coe, Scotland - Driving through the Highlands it was hard not to be impressed by the dramatic peaks of Glen Coe - I may remember the scene a little more colorful than it was in real life but the swirling clouds should give you a sense of what the weather was like!
