Destinations feature the art of three local artists, Katie Jurkiewicz, Margaret Freedman, and Nathan Katz.
Each art piece is a reflection of destinations from all areas of the globe, both past and present. All of the art in this exhibition is inspired by the beautiful melding of mountains, sea, rocky beaches and tropical and exotic plant life. In addition, it is also inspired by great food, and friendly people, Destinations will transport you to another part of the world.
Think of Destinations as a collection of past life experiences, current realities, and unrealized future concepts that survive and flourish off the tip of each artists' brush.
Where will your mind travel to once you view these paintings?

I am pleased to announce I will be in the exhibition "Resident X" at Artspace New Haven. The exhibition will run December 2, 2017 - February 24, 2018. The opening reception is December 2, 4-6pm.
The official description:
"Resident X is a group show that introduces the idea of the “Artist Residency” as circumstantial form.
The six artists in the show have not applied for residencies, nor have they sought out the unconventional places where they make work. Rather they find themselves consigned to one place for an extended period of time – a hospital bed, subway train, car, airplane, cubical, non-visual world – and get to making art.
Artists will include Jonathan Gitelson, Keith Johnson, Katie Jurkiewicz, Sam Messer, Carmen Papalia and Dushko Petrovich."
Join me at City-Wide Open Studios 2017 in New Haven, CT!
For City-Wide Open Studios 2017 I will be presenting a series of work from time spent in Menton, France entitled "Lemons & Helicopters". This exhibition will include my signature large scale unstretched canvas landscape paintings, pen and ink sketches and crayon drawings.
I have a large work in One Planet. One Home. (May 4 – May 28, 2017) at Kehler Liddell Gallery 873 Whalley Ave, New Haven, CT.
Opening reception will be Friday, May 12, 4–7pm, the first night of Westville’s annual artwalk.
I have these three paintings in the exhibition
Inauguration Nation: Artists Respond to the New Administration
Inauguration Day Open House, January 20, 11am - 4pm
Opening Reception, January 21, 3pm - 6pm
The show is about what artists would like to say to the new administration - mine address climate change and renewable energy. People often approve of the concept of renewable energy sources in the general, but in the specific they complain about the sound, the appearance, the ruining of the view or the "feel" of the countryside. One of these people is our own future president, Donald Trump who, in his classic way of mixing his business with the country's, encouraged officials in Britain to fight wind turbines off the coast of his Scottish golf course because it would "spoil the beautiful countryside" (http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-38070395). Our future president also has expressed his doubts about climate change (exhibited by his tweet about it being a Chinese hoax and his nomination of climate change denier Scott Pruitt to head the EPA) and his support for bringing back coal highlight his non-support of the expansion of renewable energy.
25% of each work sold in the show will go to a non-profit of the artist's choosing. Mine will go to the Environmental Defense Fund.

Match Game:New Work from the Artspace Flatfile
Opening Reception: Thursday, October 20, 6-8pm
Artspace is pleased to present Match Game, an exhibition that encourages viewers to learn more about the 20 newest artists to enter our Flatfile Collection through a series of off-kilter and feverishly TV-worthy image and word games. The show takes inspiration from the 1970s show of the same name in which contestants guessed a celebrity panel's answers to fill-in-the-blank questions. While Match Game never saw the same success as its after-school competitors, (Press Your Luck, 10,000 Dollar Pyramid, Family Feud), reruns on Nickelodeon and The Game Show Network were popular due to the ease with which the show embraced a period brand of bawdy slap-stick humor. The show was brought back to late night TV in April of 2016 and features Alec Baldwin as its host.
Featured artists include the 2015 Flatfile inductees: Jan Cunningham, Katie Jurkiewicz, Eben Kling, Jason Noushin, Christopher O’Flaherty, Charmaine Ortiz, Carol Radsprecher and Scott Schuldt; and the 2016 inductees: Caryn Azoff, Jessica Cannon, Victoria Crayhorn, Kathryn Frund, Yikui Gu, Hong Hong, Barbara Marks, Michael May, Susan McCaslin, Adam Niklewicz, Christina Spiesel, Mercedes Teixido and Susan Walsh.

Help Me Attend an Artist Residency this Summer
The GOOD news - I was accepted to an art residency in France this June! 33 days devoted entirely to creating drawings, paintings and digital collages based on my location.
The CHALLENGING news - while I did receive a generous grant from the art center I will be visiting, I do need to raise a sizeable sum for supplies, equipment, travel expenses, international medical insurance, and some living expenses.
If you are local please consider attending my fundraiser - the food will be so amazing, I swear! THE BEST cook around will be on the case.
If you are unable to attend but would like to support my cause you can make donations of any amount via my website:
