Sketch in the City

So living in CT, NYC is close enough to hop in for the day- to see a play, visit a museum, have dinner with friends and then back home on the the train. I take it for granted that I will visit several times a year... And therefore have never just wandered and drew it as I have places much further away that I may never see again.

I had to go into the city for some business in the afternoon today and thought I would give myself the morning to begin to rectify this major drawing oversight. I did these sketches of Bryant Park trying to capture the very beginnings of spring (and incidentally it was lightly snowing at the time)

I also had to get to Roosevelt Island and decided to take the tramway (photos as well) because why not. This view will most definitely be a painting someday!
