Provincetown (tree + knotweed)
In another instance of traveling via sketchbooks in the time of Coronavirus, I've made this new painting from an old drawing from grad school.
Seen here in the foreground is a recent muse, Japanese Knotweed, which is a super invasive species that can bust through concrete, wreck the foundation of a house and grow up to 8 feet in a month. In the background a perfectly gnarled and tangled tree (is there any other kind worth having?).
Provincetown (tree + knotweed), painted with acrylic on unstretched canvas. 48" wide by 79" high.
